Our Soft-Pack Flotation (AKA Rest on Water) treatment is pretty AME-zing. This treatment was developed 40 years ago by Paul Haslauer along with a medical team of rheumatologists. The benefits of this treatment on your musculoskeletal system are astounding making it a favorite for those suffering from arthritis and other rheumatic diseases. Other people who especially love this treatment consist of athletes who participate in high-impact sports, those who suffer from disordered sleep, and those who really need some relaxation. Being a runner, I absolutely love the soft-pack. There are few things this soothing on the muscles and joints. I always tell my clients, it’s pretty impossible to not relax and drift off when you are in the soft-pack.
Despite being called rest on water, you never come in contact with water during your float – leaving you dry. The idea is similar to a water-bed but better!
Clients have the option of receiving a “solo float” where you remain in one of our robes for the duration of your float or the full Rest on Water treatment. Clients who wish to experience the full treatment will start off with a full body polish and then rinse in our swiss shower before being nestled and wrapped in hot mud, green tea, or body butter. They are then lowered into the soft-pack – your very own heated flotation bed – pure bliss. The gentle water pressure combined with the heat of the water, enhance your skin’s absorption of the body wrap product. This treatment allows your body to be just about weightless as you rest on water and let go, basically leaving you feeling like a new person when you are done. About Erika: I have been a stylist at AME for nine years and I am also one of teachers in our associate training program. What gets me most excited about doing hair is the science behind it. I love working on test swatches and experimenting with unique and custom color combinations so that we are not just following trends – we are setting them.
Favorite Product: My current obsession is Doo Over by Kevin Murphy. It gives the lived in look that is super sexy right now. It can make a straight blow out look effortless and can make a wavy style look beachy and care-free.
DIY Styling Secret: I’m all about spending as little time as possible in the morning on my hair. So an easy trick my clients love is sleeping with a braid or two and then in the morning, take it out and hit a few pieces with a curling iron for perfect bohemian waves.
Summer rompers, gladiator sandals, and beach hair…. What’s not to love?!!!!

Not only does peppermint smell wonderful (the scent alone is a pick me up), taste fabulous, and remind us of the holidays – it also has tons of health benefits! People have used peppermint for its medicinal uses for many, many years now. The most common medicinal use for peppermint has been as a digestive aid; typically treating symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Some other ways peppermint has been known to help:
How to use it? How you use peppermint depends on what you are using it for. If you are suffering from a headache or a migraine, cold or congestion, as well as stomach cramps, hot peppermint tea is a great option. Another option for headaches and migraines is to apply a small dab of organic, peppermint essential oil on your temples and massage it in using circular motions or just breathe in the smell of the oil. For muscle aches and pains as well as rashes and skin irritations, you can use a topical peppermint ointment or balm – just be sure to read the product directions prior to applying as some peppermint ointments are not meant to be applied to certain skin conditions.
You can find peppermint in tea form, ointments, essential oil, essential oil capsules, throat lozenges, or fresh leaves.

About Brett: Call me silver. I have been a stylist at AME for twenty-five years now and I am extremely passionate about education and my craft. I would call my style classic with a deconstructed edgy element. I love the relationships I have with my guests. Being able to service them and bring them current trends really rocks my world. Continuing education classes and being inspired as well as educating others and mentoring the new hair associates is very important to me. I am grateful everyday for my career.
Favorite Hair Product: Right now I am most impressed with Olaplex. Both the take home product and the in-salon treatment are fabulous. Olaplex is a reconstructive treatment that re-bonds the bisulfite bonds that hold the hair polymers together. It is not a conditioner or a protein treatment. We compromise our hair bonds everyday with hair coloring, styling, sun, and other elements. Fortunately, Olaplex is instant and permanent until we break more bonds. It is an in-salon service with a take home booster. I love it done in conjunction with a keratin blow out or smoothing treatment.
Hair trend you are loving: The Biggest trends I’m seeing for fall are headbands, modern French twist, messy chignon, center parts with bedhead hair, and deep side parts slicked over. In addition, I am loving the lob (long bob) and mid lengths. These styles can be smooth, textured, or curled and they graze the shoulders or fall just below.
DIY Styling Secret: Don’t forget about your cold air switch on your blow dryer. When you are creating your curls, waves, or bed head looks, don’t forget to hit the area you just styled with cold air. This will set it before you release it from your brush or styling tool.
